Representatives of Gamjitel, a telephone company owned by the New Nigeria Development Company based in Kaduna yesterday paid a courtesy visit to the Headquarters of the Nigerian Communications Commission.
The GamjiTel delegation was received by NCC Executive Commissioner Stakeholder Management, Mr. Sunday Dare, on behalf of NCC's EVC/CEO, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta.

The Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta this morning inaugurated members of the 2017 inter-agency committee for the evaluation of research proposals from the academia.
The scope of research topics to be assessed by the Committee embrace core telecommunications issues to oil pipeline protection and tracking. The EVC stated that the goal of the Commission is to be able to use this intervention to address industry problems as well as some other societal issues that need urgent attention.

The Parliament of the West African Students Union, WASU - an organisation formed in London 1925 by Oladipo Solanke, a Nigerian studying in Britain - yesterday paid a historic visit to the Nigerian Communications Commission Head Office to present the award of DISTINGUISHED “Icon of Societal Development” to Tony Ojobo, NCC's Director of Public Affairs. The Union also described NCC as a pre-eminent regulatory authority in Africa.
Gratified by NCC's consistent uncommon initiates, programmes and projects geared towards operational efficiency and regulatory excellence, the legislative arm of WASU declared that it considered it an obligation to put on record the phenomenal achievements of NCC as a historical note. This explains the recognition of the Commission and the award to its spokesman.

Professor Umar Danbatta, the EVC/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, this morning fulfilled a pledge it made last year by presenting laptop computers to Nigerian Women in Information Technology (NWIIT) for onward delivery to the finalists of an ICT/Cybercrime Competition for Secondary School Girls, organised by NWIIT.
The computers were received by Dr. Florence Babalola, National President of NWIIT, from Mr. Tony Ojobo, Director Public Affairs NCC, who made the presentation on behalf of the EVC.

The Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Professor Umar Danbatta said the notion of cyber security and protection of privacy rights under the cyber law is a journey and not a destination, and therefore called on all stakeholders to make Nigeria to move faster and steadily in the journey.
Danbatta stated this while contributing as a panelist at the ongoing Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference (AGC) in Lagos, in a paper titled: THE BUSINESS OF CYBER LAW, INTERNET POLICY AND PRIVACY RIGHTS.
