The NCC has said the ICT is central to advanced virtual learning in medical care and learning and that is the reason NCC has been in the vanguard of propagating ICT education through deployment of equipment to School Knowledge Centres, Libraries, Community Resource Centres and other initiatives.

Shuaibu Swade, Controller NCC Kano Zonal Office stated this recently during an interactive session with the students and management of the School of Midwifery in Gworzo Local Government Area of Kano State.

During the interactive session the students were informed that access to the Internet has provided a diverse range of virtual capacity building platforms like e-library, scientific journals, online courses (virtual classrooms) and even the ability to access or be part of live (real time) surgery operations and practicals without being physically present in that part of the world.

Swade further gave instances of some treatments enabled by ICT, such as laparascopic surgeries, laser treatments among others as well as artificially intelligent robotic-guided procedures which have all been enabled by the advancement in ICT.

He encouraged the students to be digitally literate for the realization of advanced ICT enabled healthcare delivery system in Nigeria.
Swade concluded that these advancements will minimize preventable communicable diseases, propagate safe living and prevent terminal illnesses especially in our rural communities.
