The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has educated 110 pupils of Royal Family Academy Primary School, Wuye Abuja and their teachers, who came on an educational visit to the Commission to understand its operations.

Receiving the pupils and their teachers on behalf of Prof. Umar Danbatta, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission earlier today (26/11/2019), Abigail Solanke, Director, Corporate Planning, Strategy and Risk Management (CPS&RM), said as the country’s independent telecoms regulatory authority, the NCC’s role include “stimulating the growth of the Nigerian telecom sector to ensure every Nigerian enjoys telecoms services wherever they may be in the country as well as protecting the interests of the consumers.”

She explained that the NCC has created opportunity for pupils and students in public and private schools to visit the NCC on education tour in order for them to be more informed on the role and activities of the Commission, as an agency of the Federal Government responsible for the regulation of the telecommunication industry.

During the educational visit, presentations were made by different departments of the Commission on the role of the NCC as a regulator of the telecom industry and on child online protection. The pupils were given tips on how to avoid the negative online attacks and influences.

The pupils were later taken round the Commission, including the NCC Museum, where they were shown telecoms equipment that narrated the transition in technological advancements and migration from analogue to the current digital telecommunications.
