Chief Idris Ibikunle Olorunnimbe, Asoju Oba of Iru Kingdom, is the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). He brings to this role a wealth of leadership experience spanning technology-driven creative industries, public service, governance, and youth development.
A graduate of the University of Lagos, where he earned a Law Degree and serves on the Enterprise Board, he has strengthened his governance expertise through advanced executive education at the Institute of Directors (IoD) UK, Henley Business School, Cambridge Judge Business School, Oxford Business School, Insead and Harvard Business School.
Chief Olorunnimbe is the founder of The Temple Company, a pioneering African ecosystem integrating entertainment, digital platforms, gaming, live events, and sports. Through his stewardship, Temple invested heavily in technology-enabled content creation, digital distribution, creative IP protection, and cross-border collaborations – all areas that foster innovation, unlock digital value chains, and expand Nigeria’s creative economy.
As a strong advocate for talent development, he established the Gidi Creative Centre in partnership with Lagos State Government and leading academic institutions – training over 1,000 young Nigerians in film, animation, digital skills, media entrepreneurship,
and emerging creative technologies. He also partnered with the U.S. Consulate in Lagos on a cultural technology programme supporting entrepreneurship, conflict transformation and digital creativity among Nigerian youth.
Chief Olorunnimbe has a long-standing commitment to national development. He served as Personal Assistant and later Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State, where he contributed to major public reform initiatives including human capital
development, driver reorientation policy and sports infrastructure revitalisation. He later joined a Federal Government task force responsible for optimising the socioeconomic value of the National Stadium.
His board-level contributions include service on the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), where he chaired key governance committees. He currently sits on the boards of companies in insurtech, media, sports, and education, bringing a strong
background in corporate governance, risk oversight and innovation strategy.
Chief Olorunnimbe has been recognised among Africa’s most influential leaders for his role in advancing digital creativity, youth empowerment and sector-wide partnerships. He continues to mentor young entrepreneurs, advocate for digitally-enabled inclusion, and support platforms that strengthen Nigeria’s global competitiveness.
He is proudly from Lagos, married to Abisoye, a fashion entrepreneur, and blessed with three daughters.
