Space Segment

The list of Space Segment Operators provides information about the Space Station Landing Permits issued to the Space Segment Operators such as Space Station’s name, Home Administration, Orbital Type, Orbital Location/Altitude of Satellite constellation, Frequency bands, Frequency range, Service types including Fixed, Broadcasting or Mobile Satellite Service. It also includes available Satellite Bandwidth and Landing Permit duration.

Authorized Space Services Operators

This contains the official Lists of Space Segment and Ground Segment Operators that have been authorized by the Nigerian Communications Commission (The Commission) to provide commercial Space Based Communications Services, as stipulated under Section (13) subsection (1b) of the Guidelines on Commercial Satellite Communications.

Both Lists will be updated periodically to reflect the status of all the LandinPermits/Satellite Frequency licenses issued or modified.

Leadership

The Governing Body of the Nigerian Communications Commission is composed of nine Commissioners. This includes six non-executive members—one representing each of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, including the Chairman—and three executive members: the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive and two Executive Commissioners. 

Licences

Consistent with Section 70 of the Nigerian Communications Act 2003 (NCA 2003), the Commission is empowered to make and publish regulations on matters such as, but not limited to; written authorisations

Guidelines

Consistent with Section 70 Subsection 2 of the Nigerian Communications Act 2003 (NCA 2003), the Commission is empowered to make and publish guidelines on all matters as are deemed necessary to give full effect to the provisions and administration of the NCA 2003

Type Approval

The Nigerian Communications Commission is empowered by the Nigerian Communications Act 2003 to establish and enforce standards for all telecommunications equipment in operation in the Federal Republic of Nigeria to ensure that they operate seamlessly and safely within the Nigerian telecommunications environment.
