The Executive Vice Chairman/ CEO, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Umar Garba Danbatta received the board of Abuja Teaching Hospital on September 20, 2018 at the Commission’s Head Office.
The Board Chairman, Dr. Sam Sam Jaja led the delegation comprising the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital and Dr. Nicholas Baamlong, Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee.

Dr. Jaja in his opening remarks stated that they are compelled to pay a visit to the EVC/ CEO NCC to express their immense gratitude for the magnanimity accorded the hospital by the Management of NCC. He further said “We are delighted and thought we should pay you a visit to thank you and to appreciate you for the ICT support, the first support we ever received since the establishment of the hospital 25 years ago.
The Chief Medical Director, reiterated the remarks of the Chairman noting that“ We are here to thank you for the ICT facilities, the E- health and data sharing centre established for us. We also appreciate the Data Centres provided to the university main campus of Abuja and the Abuja Teaching Hospital and the University Inter-campus Connectivity (Fibre) for connectivity and sharing of data.”

Director projects at NCC, A.K Yakubu stated that the E-health and Data sharing facilities provided to the hospital is at 90% percent completion. He noted that all necessary equipments have been supplied and installed and, what’s is remaining is the integration of the system. He therefore, called on the hospital to provide a personnel specialized in ICT to put him through the operations of the system. He said that the work would be completed in 2-3 weeks time as the contractor Messrs Coscharis Technology Limited has been directed to finalize the work to enable its commissioning and handover to the hospital.

Head Universal Service Provision Fund, Yakubu Shuaibu stated that USPF has provided University Inter-campus Fibre Connectivity between the hospital and main campus and, data centres for the main campus of the university and the AUTH.
The EVC NCC stated that NCC is mandated to ensure universal connectivity across the country. The NCC boss noted that what the NCC is doing is inline with its plan of ensuring that all government agencies become interconnected, digitized so that a unified data centre will be domiciled with National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). The aim is to ensure that there is digitization and computerization to enable Smart society. The essence is to ensure universal data centre of records, fast tracking and sharing, elimination of distance and provision of timely information.
Danbatta, acknowledged their gratitude and informed them that the Commission has the whole country as its constituency, and it’s expected we should not concentrate our interventionary resources in just one institute of government. Interventions by the Commission are expected to reach all the nooks and crannies of Nigeria. As to the request made by the CMD that NCC should intervene on its behalf for the operators to provide CSR to the hospital, the EVC responded that the hospital should write to the operators directly.
