Onitsha market in Anambra State, West Africa's largest market, this afternoon hosted staff of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) who came for general sensitization of the traders about telecommunication issues.

Ismail Adedigba, Head Information and Reference at NCC's Consumer Affairs Bureau, who represented the Director of the Bureau told the traders that this visitation and engagements speak to NCC's readiness to protect the telecom consumers wherever they may be located through information and education.

In this instance, Aeedigba said the message was brought directly to the traders because they may not find it convenient to attend other outreach programmes whenever such is slated.

Banji Ojo, Head Consumer Education and Advocacy at the Bureau advised the traders to avoid buying pre-registered SIM cards. He urged them to register their SIM cards and in authorised places. He told the audience that the registration is free, and also advised on many aspects of telecommunication in order to have a better quality of service experience.
