The Nigerian Communications Commission, the Regulator of the telecommunications industry in Nigeria, supports amongst other things, telecommunications-based innovation, inventions and research from tertiary institutions in the country that are practical, locally realizable and have clear potential of developming the telecommunications industry.

Pursuant to this objective, the Commission invites proposals from Academics in tertiary institutions that have feasible research ideas, capable of replacing or enhancing foreign technologies in the telecommunications industry in Nigeria.

Conscious of the reality that Small, Medium-sized Enterprise (SMEs) Entrepreneurs and start-ups are critical drivers for economic growth, Nigeria will this year emphasise their participation in the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Telecom World which holds in Durban, South Africa from September 10-13. Apart from SMEs, innovators and their innovations are also slated to have a good showing at this year’s event.
Nigeria had a superlative outing in ITU Telecom World 2017, Busan, South Korea, when five of the country’s SMEs/Innovators made the final ITU Global listing for SMEs/Innovators awards. Three of them made the honours list.

The Nigerian Communications Commission, in accordance with section 57 of the Nigerian Communications Act 2003 (the Act) hereby gives notice that it shall hold a Public Inquiry in respect of an application by Visafone Communications Limited to transfer its licence and resources, including Spectrum in the 800MHz Band to MTN Nigeria Communications Limited.
