The Board, Management and entire members of staff of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) have commiserated with the family of the immediate Past Chairman of the Board of the Commission, Distinguished Senator Otunba Olabiyi Durojaiye, who answered the call of God on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the age of 88 years.
In a condolence letter to the family in which the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta described the late Durojaiye as a Patriarch, grandfather and great-grandfather, Danbatta extolled his life-time of service as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Banker, Lawyer, Economist and evergreen Administrator per excellence.

...Lauds industry’s healthy competition.
Shortly after the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami revealed the Federal Government’s position on the deployment of 5G networks in Nigeria, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, has said that the Commission is ready for the implementation of the government’s decision.
The EVC also lauded the thriving healthy competition in the telecommunications industry, which he said has driven down the prices of data in the country.

The Executive Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, has identified major benefits in promoting digital literacy in the country.
Delivering the first Annual Lecture of the Bichi Emirate titled, “Digital Literacy as a Veritable Tool for Social and Economic Transformation" in Bichi, Kano State, over the weekend, Danbatta challenged actors in both public and private sectors to key into the programme.

The Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has paid an official condolence visit to the family of Ahmed Joda, former Board Chairman of the Commission, in his country home in Yola, Adamawa State. Alh. Ahmed Joda passed on Friday, August 13, 2021, at the age of 91.
The delegation, which was led by the Chairman of NCC Board, Prof. Adeolu Akande included the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the Commission Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, the Executive Commissioner, Technical Services, Engr. Ubale Maska, and Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management, Barrister Adeleke Adewolu. Also on the visit were other Board Commissioners, including Mr. Clement Baiye, Chief Uche Onwude, Alhaji Abdulazeez Salman and Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar as well as senior Management staff of the Commission.

The Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof Umar Garba Danbatta has charged the Nigerian youths, who participated in the nationwide digital literacy training conducted by the Commission, to put the skills acquired as well as the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools received during the exercise to appropriate and legitimate use.
Addressing the participants at the closing ceremony of the NCC’s Digital Literacy Training for the North-West held at the Kano Campus of the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), Danbatta, particularly enjoined the youths who have had the privilege of participating in the training to apply the skills acquired in gainful activities in order for them to be self-employed.
