The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has again re-assured Nigerians that there is no iota of truth in media speculations that 95.7 million SIM cards have been rendered null and void due to alleged poor deployment of technology.
Speaking with journalists in an interview recently, the NCC’s Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management, Mr Sunday Dare stated that what is happening currently is that subscriber data so far captured by Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), as well as data captured by other statutory agencies are being cleaned-up, verified and harmonised in accordance with the Act setting up the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and a Directive of the Federal Executive Council.

"James Kunle Olorundare of the Technical Standards and Network Integrity Department of Nigerian Communications Commission, recently in Lagos won the ‘Best Regulatory Engineer of the Year’ at the Beacon of Information and Communication Technology (BOICT) Awards.
The organizer of the Awards, Communications Week Media, said Olorundare won the award for his expertise and experience in the Nigeria’s ICT ecosystem, especially in Product Certification, Standardization, Project Management, Industry Regulations, Corporate Action Plan, Equipment Testing and System Auditing.

The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Prof. Umar Danbatta, has said that the NCC is committed to partnering with all shades of stakeholders to promote local content input into the economy and to reduce unemployment in the country.
