PHASE 2 – NORTH EAST, NORTH-WEST, SOUTH-SOUTH, SOUTH-EAST AND SOUTH-WEST ZONES
The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, announces its intention to commence Phase 2 – license of INFRACOS for North-East, North-West, South-South, South-West and South East zones. The INFRACOS will deploy metropolitan fibre infrastructure within its assigned territory on an open access, non-discriminatory, price regulated basis.

The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, hereby informs stakeholders that MTN Nigeria Communications Limited who emerged the sole preferred bidder in the licensing process on the 2.6 GHz Spectrum and therefore issued letter of provisional award provisioned on the payment of specified fees for the Spectrum have made the payment.
In line with the provisions of the Information Memorandum guiding the auction process, having paid the fees specified for 2 x 30 MHz in the 2.6 GHz Spectrum, MTN Nigeria Communications Limited has been awarded the license.

The attention of the Nigerian Communications Commission has been drawn to the fact that GSM Boosters are illegally used by individuals in Nigeria. Individual desirous of using the GSM Booster should note that they can only do that in conjunction with licensed network operators.
Note that GSM Boosters are devices that transmit and receive telecommunications signals and can therefore, interfere with other radio frequency equipment.
For the avoidance of doubt, wilful interference with any wireless telegraphy is an offence under Section 16 of the Wireless Telegraphy Act, 2004. The Commission will not condone any flagrant breach of this law.
Accordingly, mechanisms have been put in place to monitor and anyone caught using the GSM booster without obtaining approval of a duly licensed network operator will face arrest and prosecution.
