The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, on March 15, 2017 launched the "Year of Telecom Consumer" campaign programme designed to give concrete expression to the centrality of the consumer in the telecom ecosystem. Deriving life from items 2 and 6 of the NCC Management's 8-point Agenda launched February 27 2016, the declaration of year 2017 as YEAR OF TELECOM CONSUMER is meant to focus on the needs and satisfaction of the Nigerian telecom consumer.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) organised a reception/presentation of its new Board of Commissioners to the Nigerian telecommunications industry. The three new Non-Executive Members of the Board of Commissioners and one Executive Commissioner were nominated by the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR on August 2, 2016 and confirmed by the Nigerian Senate on November 17, 2016.

A few hours after Tony Ojobo, NCC's Director of Public Affairs, received the GRANDIX International Award for Excellence and National Development for 2016, the EVC/CEO of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta last night received on behalf of the Commission, THE BEST GOVERNMENT AGENCY IN NIGERIA AWARD from the LEADERSHIP Newspaper.
The award ceremony, so evidently oversubscribed by the sheer number of dignitaries and other attendees present at the event, held at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.

The Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Andrzej Dycha, yesterday paid a visit to the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, to congratulate the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Prof. Umar Danbatta on his appointment and importantly to seek collaboration between NCC and the Polish telecom regulator, UKE.
Mr. Dycha recalled the exponential growth in the Polish economy arising from the transformation policies initiated since the ascendancy of the late President Lech Walesa and said that explains why Poland is the 6th richest economy in Europe, marked by thriving business and commerce as well as a vibrant telecommunication sector.

Mr. Andrus-Ansip, the European Union Vice President of the Digital Single Market has commended the transparent manner the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, under Prof. Danbatta has handled with transparency the sale and management of Nigeria’s Spectrum.
Speaking at a meeting that held on Thursday in the Abuja office of the European Union, Mr.Ansip opined that Nigeria is doing very well in this aspect compared with what obtains in other African countries.
